Tags
Tag pages, find every page with a tag, and tidy up tag names and colors.Tags connect related pages wherever they sit in the tree. They show above a page's title.
Previously loaded tags appear immediately when you return to a page. The compact Add tag control shows a faded +, revealing + Tag when you hover or focus it. Keyboard focus shows a complete outline around the control. Select it to open the tag picker without moving the title.
Cached tags and lists stay visible during refreshes. Changes from another browser session refresh in the background, without replacing your page draft. If a refresh fails, a notice explains it without moving the title or removing the cached tags.
A page titled Launch checklist with three tags, Release, Engineering, and Q4, each in its own color, and the dashed plus button to add another.

A new tag stays visible while the picker refreshes its list.
Create a new tag
Site admins and workspace admins can create a tag by typing a name that doesn't exist yet and pressing Enter. Before adding it, you can pick a color from the swatches, or leave it on Automatic and Knit picks one. Editors choose from existing tags.
Example. A small set of tags that each answer one question works better than many overlapping ones:
| Tag | Put it on |
|---|---|
| Release | Anything tied to shipping a release |
| Engineering | Pages the engineering team owns |
| Q4 | Work planned for this quarter |
| Policy | Rules everyone must follow |
