File attachments
Attach original files to pages and find them again.Attach a file
Type /file and choose File attachment, or choose Attach file in the
editor toolbar (under Format when the toolbar is compact). Select a file from your computer. Knit adds a link with its type
and size at your cursor. The original file stays intact.
Add a file at your cursor to keep the original alongside the page's notes.
Each attachment can be up to 25 MB. Attachments and images count together against your Site’s storage allowance. If an upload fails, the page stays as it was and shows an error. Choose the file again to retry.
Find and download files
Choose Files, beside Pages in the workspace sidebar. Files appears when the current workspace has attachments you can access. Search filenames, see file sizes and uploaders, select a filename to open its source page, or use the download icon at the right of its row to download the original. Your access to the workspace and page determines which files you can see. Downloads open separately, leaving your current Knit page in place.
Knit checks your page access before starting each download. If a download link has expired, use the file's download action again to get a fresh link.
Workspace and Site exports include attached files beside the exported pages. Importing a Knit archive restores the files and their page links, subject to the same file and Site storage limits.
Trash and permanent deletion
Attachments and pictures stay with a page while it can be restored from Trash. When page cleanup permanently deletes it, Knit also removes its original files and pictures. A link from another page does not change which page owns an attachment. Pictures still used by another retained page are kept.
See Site storage
Site admins can open Settings → Site → Storage to see image and attachment usage by workspace, pending upload space, and each attachment’s size and uploader. Private files still contribute to those totals. Without access to their content, you see Private file in place of the filename, with no download or page link.
